Can I build a 5 foot tall fence?

You can build a 5 foot tall fence from Trex fencing components. In fact, you can build any height you want from 2 ft. tall to 12 ft. tall. Because Trex Fencing components are manufactured for assembly at the installation site and because the materials can be cut to length, a 5 foot tall fence is essentially the same as a 6 foot tall fence with pickets and posts cut one foot shorter.

Pickets and posts come in more than one length. That means you can create some efficiency when building. For example, if you are building a 4 foot tall fence, you can use the pickets for an 8 foot tall fence and simply cut two pieces out of them. The advantage to that is that you use half as many pickets and therefore can appreciate some cost-savings. The same is true for a 3 foot tall fence. Using the pickets for 6 foot tall fencing, again, cut two pieces out of them and use half as many pickets. At that height, you would also need half the number of posts because you can cut a standard 12 foot post to get enough material to make two.

Here is an example of a fence that was mounted on top of a wall. The posts and pickets were cut down by one foot each creating a total height of 5 feet tall for the body of the fence.
